116 111 is not only for “big disasters”
Linka bezpečí 116 111 is a phone for children and young people. It works nonstop. You can call when:
- you are afraid to tell a parent something
- someone is pushing you in chat and you do not know where to go
- you feel awkward, lonely, scared
- you need a calm voice and you do not know who should be first
You do not have to have a “big enough problem”. It is enough that it is hard to say out loud at home or at school. On the line are people trained to listen. Not to judge.
116 111 is not a replacement for a parent when you can normally come at home. It is backup, when the first door is closed or scary.
You do not deal with the police and a bank on your own. When it is about money, blackmail with a photo, or someone wants to meet in person — a parent, a teacher, school. 116 111 can advise what to tell an adult. You do not have to carry the whole world on your own.
The order of doors — again
- A parent or a teacher — first, when you can.
- The Report button in the app — once you know what you are reporting (a teacher or a parent will advise).
- 116 111 — when it is hard to talk at home, or you need calm right now.
The line is not a “snitch”. It is a phone that exists because children sometimes need someone outside family and school.
You can call even when you “only” do not know if a message is a scam. You do not need a finished story. It is enough: “Something weird arrived and I am afraid to say it at home.”
What to save with a parent
- 116 111 into contacts — a name like Linka bezpečí
- know that the call is free from most phones in Czechia
- agree: when you cannot come to me, you can call there — a parent does not have to take it as an insult, if you explain it calmly
Do not save numbers from strangers in chat. Only the official line, which you find on the site linkabezpeci.cz — with a parent.
What to say on the line
You do not need a speech. This is enough:
“I am … years old. A message arrived / someone is pushing / I am afraid to say it at home. I do not know what I should do.”
The operator asks calmly. You can say “I do not know” to anything. You do not have to give a name immediately if you do not want to — but it helps them advise better.
How it fits the projects
🏠 Family rules. Sentence: I may call 116 111 when I cannot come to a parent. It is not a betrayal.
🏫 Campaign for the class. On the poster: A weird message → a parent / a teacher → 116 111, when it is hard to talk.
Now you 💪
With a parent, save 116 111 into the phone. Say out loud when you would call and when a parent would call for you.
-
Open contacts. A new contact: Linka bezpečí, 116 111.
-
A parent says one sentence: “You can call when you cannot come to me. I will not be angry.” You answer that the course is not because something happened.
-
Add to family rules: 116 111 = backup, not a first step instead of a parent.
Check: You have 116 111 saved. You know the order: parent → report → the line. Calling is not a failure.
What to take from this lesson
- 116 111 = for children, nonstop, free.
- Backup, when it is hard to talk at home.
- You do not deal with the police on your own — you go with an adult.
- A saved number + an agreement with a parent.
