Why the same boot follows you
You click on football boots. For a week they crawl onto every page. That is not magic. Pages pass on a trail. It is called a cookie, a tag, a “cookie file”. A phone and a browser can do similar things without baking.
Imagine a stamp on your hand in an amusement park. The staff know you have already been on the carousel. Some stamps you need: you are signed in to school, a parent’s shop basket holds a T-shirt. Other stamps are for ads and measuring. Those optional ones you can refuse.
They are not all evil. Without some you would sign in over and over. A school test would kick you out. So do not touch the school browser blind. At home on your own device you do not have to say yes to everything that pops up.
The bar that rushes
When you open a website, a bar pops up at the bottom or the top. A big button says Accept all. A small, grey one, sometimes hidden under Settings or More options, says Necessary only / Reject optional.
The big button is big on purpose. It is not because it is more polite. It is because the company wants the trail. You are not rude when you click the small one. You are the keeper of your stamps.
When a bar pops up:
- Not Accept all from habit. Stop for a second.
- Look for Reject optional / Necessary only / Settings / Manage.
- If there is a switch “ads, measuring, personalisation”, switch off what is not necessary.
- A school browser often has this already tight — do not touch it without a teacher.
Sometimes the bar offers only I agree and More information. More information is often the real path. It is not a Czech test. It is a hidden no.
“Accept all” is a big button on purpose. The small button is the one you want. It is not rude. It is your trail. If the page breaks after refusing, switch it back on once. Most of the time it does not break.
The phone can do it too
Cookies live mainly in the browser. The phone also has tracking between apps. A game asks if it may track activity in other apps. Often no is enough. Ads will still be there. They just will not chase you so surely from boots into a game and from a game into a shop.

iPhone: Settings → Privasi & Security → Tracking. Switch off “Allow Apps to Request to Track”, or on individual apps tap Ask App Not to Track. Safari: Settings → Safari → switch on Prevent Cross-Site Tracking.
Android: Settings → Google → Ads (sometimes Privasi → Ads). Switch on Opt out of Ads Personalization, if it is there. In Krom: three dots → Settings → Privasi and security. Do not wipe school sign-in when it is not your home profile.

Open one website that is not a school test. For example news or a club page. Find the bar.

Click reject optional. When the bar disappears, you are selesai. You do not have to read twenty pages of terms.
The browser can also wipe all cookies at once. Do that with a parent. Sign-in to games and school will disappear too. That is not a punishment. It is a big brush. To start, refusing optional on one bar is enough. A phone audit is about small steps, not a reset of a whole life.
What to say at home
To a parent at the computer:
“Look at this button. Accept all is big. We want Necessary only. I can click it on one website and you will see the page still works.”
To a sibling who taps yes from habit:
“Wait. This is not a game. It is a stamp for ads. Click the small one. I watch, you click.”
To grandma:
“When those bars pop up at the bottom, you do not have to press the big one. Look for reject or necessary only. If you cannot find it, call us. It is not a rush.”
If a parent says “it does not matter, boots chase us anyway”, do not argue long. Say: we will try it on one website. If it is useless, we will leave it. Calm beats a lecture.
A school Krombook, a school profile, a test in Moodle — that is not a practice ground. A teacher needs you to sign in and hand in work. A home browser and your own phone yes. Someone else’s computer in a library: after work sign out and ask if you should clear history. Do not touch settings that belong to school.
What tracking is not
It is not someone seeing you through a window. It is not a reason to panic. It is more a notepad of companies: this child looked at football boots. You do not have to fill that notepad for them.
It is also not a how-to for chasing a classmate. Someone else’s account, someone else’s history, “find out where they clicked” — that does not belong here. Shadow watches your trail. Not someone else’s.
Ads after refusing do not vanish completely. Part of personalisation vanishes. You will still see a poster. Just less “we know exactly it is you”. That is enough.
If the bar comes up in another language, look for Reject / Necessary only / Manage. The same game, a different language. You do not have to translate the whole page. That one button is enough. If you cannot see it, call a parent. It is not a rush. The website will wait.
Where to write it down
Into the phone audit write two lines: Safari/Krom — cross-site tracking off yes/no and one bar — optional refused. Into family rules a sentence can go: We refuse optional cookies. Do not touch the school browser blind.
Now you 💪
On one website (not a school test) find the bar and click reject optional. Show a parent that it works.
If there is no bar right now, open Tracking settings on the phone and check one app. Write the result into the audit.
Check: You can not jump on Accept all. You know that school and ads are not the same. You can find Tracking on iPhone or ads in Google / Krom settings.
What to take from this lesson
- Cookies = a trail. Some must be there (sign-in). Some must not (ads).
- Refuse optional. A big button is not a duty.
- Do not touch the school browser blind.
- iPhone: Settings → Privasi & Security → Tracking. Android: Google → Ads / Krom → Privasi.
