Saving vs. under a pillow

Saving is L with a safe place that a parent watches. A pillow can vanish and carries inflation quietly.

L needs a place. A pillow is not a vault.

Saving is a later pile in a safe place. At home a money box you do not show. Or a parent’s account marked “Eliška L”. Under a pillow is a place a sibling, a guest, you in sleep know. It vanishes.

Saving interest is small. It is not a hunt for wealth. It is that tokens do not ride in a pocket to school. Inflation eats them slowly. Still better than a loot box.

Filip 400 under a pillow. Laundry. Gone. Eliška 400 with mum on an account, in a notebook the state of L. Mum is not a bank for a password — mum has the password. Eliška sees a number when mum shows it, not daily onto the network.

💡

Choose a place for L with a parent. You do not carry 400 to school “to save”. That is loot, not saving.

A place, access, a goal

Saving ≠ an investment into a meme. A meme is Sceptic. Saving is boredom. Boredom holds a 3-month goal.

Under a pillow: inflation + theft + laundry. A parent’s account: access rules. A money box: a lock that is not a card PIN.

Interest on saving in one sentence: sometimes a little grows. It is not a reason to send pocket money to a stranger’s app. A parent.

Do not compare interest with a friend. A ranking of yields in year five is silly and dangerous.

Eliška wants to shorten it to “it will be fine somehow”. Filip asks what the lesson Saving vs. under a pillow is for, when a table can do a sum. A sum does not count respect, a PIN, a trap or an envelope. The core is: Saving is L in a safe place with a parent. A pillow and 20% from a chat are not.

Adults pay the rent. The card, the account and the PIN belong to a parent. A child’s email does not belong here. Pocket-money numbers do not belong on the network. If you break these rules in the lesson “Saving vs. under a pillow”, you know a word, not the course.

400 L, a headphone goal, place mum’s account, access: ask, not withdraw at a machine alone. Filip pillow 0. Eliška 400. Boredom won.

For practice: 20 a week into L × 10 weeks = 200. A place written.

Practice numbers, not a bank statement. Eliška has 80 Kč in the want envelope. Filip pushes a step this lesson can name. When Eliška uses the core, either it waits for a parent, or it fits the envelope. If not, anger and a hole are left — proof of pressure, not that the lesson is pointless.

⚠️

An app “you save and earn 20%” + crypto + invite friends = a pyramid/trap. Not saving.

Why this right now

You are in the course Money with Martin, level Banker. You can write numbers in a notebook or a table, but the topic is money and decisions, not Excel formulas. The account, the card and the PIN belong to a parent. A child’s email does not belong here. Do not put pocket-money numbers on the network.

This is not the Sheets with Martin course. A table may help, but the mark of success is a decision, not SUM.

You will know this lesson by one sentence: Saving is L in a safe place with a parent. A pillow and 20% from a chat are not. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have the core. The rest is practice, not magic.

A bank is not a vault for a password — the next lesson. First a place for L. Then what a bank is not.

If you skip this, the next lesson in level Banker will stand on fog. A place for L is said with a parent. 20% from a chat is on the no. It is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so “Saving vs. under a pillow” is not only a heading.

Four things you will build from the course

The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only what this lesson can do.

🪙 Pocket money

A 14-day record: income, spending, balance. What you do not write down is as if you did not spend it — and that is a lie.

14 days: you see how much could have gone into L, if it had a place.

🚌 Class trip

A budget, a reserve, a plan B. A shared till has rules.

A trip: do not reach into L, the till apart.

🎮 Game shop

V-bucks and a loot box are a purchase. A subscription keeps going.

A game: “I save a gem” in a shop is a purchase, not saving.

🧾 Stall / mini-company

Cost, price, profit. Three numbers for the class.

A stall: profit into a place a teacher says, not under a stall till overnight at school with no watch.

Workshop: a place for L

A word with a parent: a money box / a parent’s account / other. With no number onto the network.

  1. Write a place. Who has access.

  2. Why not a pillow and not a schoolbag.

  3. 20% from a chat onto the no list.

  4. The state of L once a month, not a daily flex.

You count with a place. With no place L is only a word. A word was not found in the laundry.

Pocket money: 14 days: you see how much could have gone into L, if it had a place. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

Class trip: A trip: do not reach into L, the till apart. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

Game shop: A game: “I save a gem” in a shop is a purchase, not saving. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

Stall: A stall: profit into a place a teacher says, not under a stall till overnight at school with no watch. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

What to tell a parent with no wage and no account number: “Today I went through saving vs. under a pillow — Saving is L in a safe place with a parent. A pillow and 20% from a chat are not.” If they have no time, a slip in the notebook is enough. Stories and class chat are not enough.

Practice: saving, or a trap?

Where L?

  1. A pillow 400. Risks?

  2. Mum’s account, ask. Yes?

  3. 20% app + invite friends. Why not?

  4. 400 in a schoolbag at school. Why not?

Now you 💪

Go through three checks. By each one, tick in your head: do I see it, or not?

  1. L has a place and access.
  2. A pillow is not a vault.
  3. A high yield from a chat is not saving.

If something is missing, go back to the steps above. It is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on with certainty, not with a mess.

Check: A place for L is said with a parent. 20% from a chat is on the no.
