언어 is a prompt too. Not an automatic.
A model can do lots of languages and likes to mix. Without an instruction it sometimes jumps into another language, because there was more of it in training. Sometimes you say “in English” and it still dumps words nobody in your class would say. Sometimes it tries a dialect and makes a caricature. You order the language: school English, another language you use at home, or Po našimu — when it lives at your house and you want to practise understanding, not mockery. The check is the same as with a fact: does it sound like a person at yours, or like a robot that heard three words? At school this applies: handing-in is in the language of the brief. A dialect in chat does not excuse you from the school language in the notebook when the teacher wants standard. 언어 is a tool for understanding. It is not an alibi.
Adam gets an explanation in a language he did not ask for, even though he wrote in English. Bára adds: “Answer in English, standard, short. Foreign words only when they are in the textbook, and at once a bracket.” It works. Then they try one analogy in Po našimu, because that is how they speak with grandpa. The model overdoes it into a parody. Adam laughs, then says stop: “No mockery. One sentence, as grandpa would say it politely.” Better. Into the notebook for handing-in they write standard school English. Grandpa is not homework. Grandpa is a bridge to understanding. Bára writes: order the language. Fix a mix. 보내기 a caricature back.
When it jumps into another language, do not polish it with a translator blindly. Say: “in English, from the start, the same content.” Only then check the fact.
An order, a mix, respect
An order: language and level (standard / simply / dialect). A mix: mixed-language sentences, a word from another language in an English sentence when you did not want it. Respect: a dialect is not clowning. When the model mocks it, you stop the analogy. Po našimu in this course exists as a bridge, not as a mark. 학교 work in the language of the brief must stay the language the teacher expects. A friend who speaks another language may want an explanation in that language — and still check in a book that may be English. 언어 does not change a hallucination. A lie in Slovak is a lie. A lie in Po našimu too.
Three orders.
- “In English, standard, no extra foreign words, like 11, no diminutives.”
- “In another language we use at home, standard. It is the same fractions. Then I will rewrite into English in the notebook.”
- “One sentence in Po našimu, politely, no mockery. Then the same in standard English.”
A table of faults:
| Fault | Move |
|---|---|
| a paragraph in the wrong language | “in English from the start” |
| a caricature of a dialect | “stop, no mockery, one sentence” |
| words you would not say | “swap for a word from the textbook” |
Do not let dialect be pasted into handing-in when the teacher wants standard English. A bridge to the head ≠ the language of a mark.
Why this right now
You are in the course Ask with Martin, level Little bird. You work in a chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude) — same game, different brand. No code. A parent or the school creates the account. A child’s email does not belong here.
This is not the 인벤터 level. There you build a chatbot on your own website. Here you are a user: a question, a check, a citation.
You will know this lesson by one sentence: Say the language out loud in the prompt. 보내기 a mix and mockery back. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have got the core. The rest is practice, not magic.
You can do format. 언어 is a second wrap. Tomorrow sources — and a source in another language still must exist. Today let the window speak so you understand enough to check.
Four things you will build in this course
The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only what this lesson can do.
🏫 A report with citations
An outline, three sources that exist, and a sentence in your own words. AI must not be the only author.
A report in school English. Chat may do an analogy in Po našimu, a fair copy may not.
📝 Test training
Coach role: let it ask, do not let it say the answer. You count / answer yourself.
A quiz in English, even if the coach can do otherwise.
📅 Family planner
Tasks for the week (not passwords, not marks). A parent sees the plan, not your chat.
A planner in the family language, so a parent can read it. No mockery.
📜 An AI code for the class
Seven short rules on a poster. No horror — a how-to.
Code: “Dialect for understanding, not for handing-in, when standard applies.”
Workshop: three language moves
One bit of work. Standard English. A fix when it jumps language. Optionally one polite sentence in Po našimu or another home language — according to what lives at yours. No parody.
-
M1: stamp + an analogy + “in English, standard, no extra foreign words.” Read it. Is it English of your class?
-
If not, M2: “rewrite with the same content in English, words from the textbook.” Check the fact in a book.
-
M3 optional: one bridge sentence (dialect / another home language), a ban on mockery. If the model clowns, stop.
-
Into the notebook a fair copy only in standard, if that is what school wants. A bridge does not belong in handing-in.
-
Tell a parent which language you want at home in chat. An agreement. Not an experiment on someone else’s account.
Practice: a language fault
이름 the fault and write a fix move.
-
An explanation of fractions in another language, the prompt was in English.
-
Po našimu as a mocking caricature.
-
Handing in a composition in dialect, the teacher wants standard.
Now you 💪
Go through three checks. At each one tick in your head: can I see it, or not?
- You order language in the prompt, you do not rely on automatic.
- You recognise a mix and can send it back.
- You know a bridge to understanding is not always the language of a mark.
If something is missing, go back to the steps above. This is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on sure, not confused.
Check: One bit of work you have in English under control and you know when a bridge may and handing-in may not.
What to take from this lesson
- 언어 is a prompt, not fate.
- Another language with no order = send it back.
- Dialect with respect, or not at all.
- A lie in any language is a lie.
- The school language of the brief applies.
- The names in the examples (Adam, Bára) are made up. Do not put your number, email or photo here.
- Next lesson: When you can do this, go to the next lesson in the same level.
