Chat is not a vault
In chat things get copied, forwarded, saved as a screenshot. Even if “I will delete it in a second”. Even if “just between us”. That is why there is a list of things you never send — not to a friend, not to “support”, not to a teacher in a private message outside the school system, unless it is an approved channel.
Never send:
- A password — to school, a game, email, the vault.
- An SMS code — 2FA, recovery, “verification”.
- A PIN of the phone or a bank card (you do not deal with a parent’s on your own).
- A photo of an ID, a lunch ticket, a ticket with a name and a barcode.
- Someone else’s personal detail without permission.
- A screenshot of sign-in, where a password or a session is visible.
- “Just for a while” access — “here is the mail and the password”.
When someone wants something from the list, the answer is no. You show a parent.
“Just for a second” in chat = forever in history. A friend can be fine. A friend’s phone can be unlocked with someone else. You do not take the risk.
Exceptions — only with a parent, not in chat
- A parent says a password out loud at the table.
- A teacher in the official school system — not on personal Instagram.
- The vault — a parent saves passwords, they do not send them into WhatsApp.
If a teacher writes weirdly outside school, you show a parent. You check at school.
What to say
“보내기 the password, the teacher wants it.”
“A teacher does not want it in Discord. I will go to them at school.”
“Just a screenshot of the lock screen with codes.”
“I do not photograph codes. If it is real, a parent will deal with it.”
“We will delete it immediately.”
“I do not send it. Deleting does not bring back whoever already saved it.”
How it fits the projects
🏠 Family rules. A list of seven sentences — shortened on the fridge: 비밀번호, code, PIN not into chat.
🏫 Campaign. A poster for the class: the same list with three icons (a key, SMS, a photo).
👤 Safer profile. A contact you would not send in chat to a stranger does not belong on a profile — the same logic.
Now you 💪
Go through the last ten messages you sent (with a parent). Is there something from the list? If yes — deleting is not enough. Tell a parent. Change the password if it leaked.
-
Ten messages — together is fine. No blame. You are looking for learning.
-
One rule the family says out loud: seven things not into chat.
-
Into the vault — not into chat. If a parent sends a password into Facebook, warn them. It holds for everyone.
Check: You know the list of seven things. “Just for a while” = no. A parent not into groups either.
What to take from this lesson
- Chat remembers. A screenshot too.
- A password, an SMS code, a PIN = never.
- A teacher through an official channel, not Discord.
- A parent at the table, not family WhatsApp with passwords.
