A private account

A “friends only” profile is not hiding. It is the default.

A public profile is a megaphone

A “public” account is seen even by someone you do not know. An account friends only / private is seen by people you let in. That is not hiding. That is not that you have something to hide. That is the default that should have been there from the start.

A megaphone is fine in the playground when you call to teammates. It is not fine when you read an address, school and when you are home alone from it. The internet leaves that megaphone on at night too. In a year too. For a person you have never seen too.

A private account can still write to friends. It can still like. Only a follow request you have to let in. That is a second. It is worth the calm.

If you do not meet the network’s age limit, you do not have an account. That is a solution too. It is not a loss. It is a rule that holds for adults too with a thing they are not old enough for.

What does not belong in a bio

A bio is a short text by the name. People read it before they know you. A nickname and a favourite game belong there more. An ID card does not.

Into a bio and onto the intro photo do not belong:

A nickname is enough. A photo you would put on the headteacher’s board is enough. If you do not want a face photo, a drawing, an animal, a landscape is enough. It is not a duty to have a face on the internet.

Follow requests: only people you know by sight. A classmate from the next class you have seen, yes. An account with 12 followers and no mutuals that writes “hi flower”, no. You do not have to be polite to a stranger’s megaphone. You can ignore. You can refuse. You do not have to explain.

💡

If you do not know who it is, it is no. You can write to a friend outside that network: “do you know this one?” If they do not, refuse. Adding out of politeness is unnecessary. Politeness is in the corridor. Not at a stranger’s account.

How to switch on a private account

이름s differ. Look for private account, privacy, who can see, friends only. A parent sits next to you when there is an age limit. You click. They watch.

  1. Open the network you actually use. One. Not all at once. If you have none, skip to a bio in a game — a nick and a profile in a game hold the same.

  2. The usual path: the me / profile icon → Settings (a cog) → 개인정보 → Private account / Friends only. Switch it on. iPhone and Android: it is in the app, not in the phone’s system Settings.

  3. Check one more: who can send messages, who can tag, who can see stories. If you can set friends instead of everyone, set friends.

  4. Follow requests: go through the queue. Keep people from real life. Refuse the rest. You do not have to read every bio.

In a game there is often profile visibility, who can invite you to a party, who can see you are online. Online status “to everyone” is a megaphone again. Friends know you are playing when you write to them.

Set comments under a photo to friends, if the network can do that. A public comment under a public photo is read even by someone you do not let to the profile. That is a back door of the megaphone. 닫기 it as carefully as the account.

Go through the follower list once in a while. An account you do not recognise, remove. You do not have to write a reason. Removing is not a fight. It is tidying.

What to say at home

To a parent:

“Dad / mum, I want to switch on a private account. It is not hiding from you. It is so strangers do not see photos. Will you sit next to me? I click, you watch. I will not read the password out loud into the kitchen.”

To a sibling with a public account:

“Look. This public button is seen even by people from another city. We will set friends only. Friends stay. Strangers have to ask.”

If a parent wants access, that is a home agreement. Private towards the internet is not secret towards mum. Say: you can look. I just want anyone not to see it.

⚠️

We do not follow strangers on purpose. We do not find out where they live from old photos. We do not try “whether you can find the class from the bio”. This is protection of your profile. Not a hunt on others. If you see a classmate has school and an address in the bio, tell them calmly. Do not write it into a group.

👤 Safer profile

Go through the bio and intro photos. Delete a school badge, a kit with a surname and a place on a photo, if it is there. Switch off add a place on new photos, if the network can do that. A profile should look like a nickname, not like an ID card.

Into the project safer profile write: network — private yes/no — bio without school yes/no — requests only from real life. One table. Three rows. That is enough.

Audit and rules

Into the phone audit belongs: profile private yes/no. Into family rules a sentence: 계정s on networks are private. We accept people we know by sight. In the bio there is no school or address.

If you do not have an account, write: we do not have one — age / we do not want one. That is a finished task, not a hole.

Now you 💪

The account is private, or you do not have one and that is a solution too. Write into the audit: profile private yes/no.

Go through the bio. Delete one word that does not belong. Say the sentence from the role-play to a parent. Even if you “only browse” the account and put nothing there: a public browser still shows that you exist, and old photos too.

Shadow 완료. Fewer permissions, less trail, less megaphone. The profile is private or none. Next is what you broadcast — Broadcaster.
