An outline, not the whole work

A skeleton yes. The body of the work you.

Helper sounds like someone who does the work. In this course that word is a trap. A helper is the one who hands over a skeleton, shortens, expands a brief, watches format. It is not the one who hands in a composition. The level preview draws this thick, because from here a parent pays and from here work looks finished when you cheat. Detective gave you green facts. Curious gave a five-point outline. Today the same skeleton, a stricter ban on meat from the window. When a model finishes paragraphs “so you can see how it would look”, that is bait. Bait is read by the eye and crawls into a document. You delete the bait. You keep the headings. You fill the headings from notes and from sources. That is a helper’s honour.

Ema asks for “an outline of a composition about a forest”. She gets five headings and under each twenty sentences. Adam deletes the sentences. Five labels remain. Ema is angry that it is too little. Adam: “Little is a skeleton. Work is when you write it.” Ema writes under the first heading three sentences of her own from a trip, with no granny’s street name. A teacher recognises Ema. A neighbour hands in the bait. A teacher recognises a model. The preview hurts on the neighbour. Ema writes the meat ban above the Helper notebook. It holds from the first minute, not from lesson five.

Bait of a finished paragraph

A model likes to show that it can write. Writing is its strongest costume. A helper takes that costume off: “headings only, no sentences under them.” When sentences come, they are bait. Bait is not a pattern to edit. It is someone else’s work. A structure pattern is a list of labels. A sentence pattern you may want on ANOTHER topic — you know that from example vs. task. On your topic the sentences are yours. A teacher who allowed AI for an outline did not allow AI for a composition. Read the brief. The preview is there so that before you pay you know the graft did not shrink. Chaos shrank. The skeleton holds. The meat is still yours.

“You are an outline setter, not an author. Topic: a forest, Year 6, a composition. I already have three notes: … Return only 5 headings. No sentences under them. No opening paragraph.”

Under 1–5 you write from notes. Not from bait.

Why this right now

You are in the course Ask with Martin, level Helper. You work in a chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude) — same game, different brand. No code. A parent or the school creates the account. A child’s email does not belong here.

This is not the 发明家 level. There you build a chatbot on your own website. Here you are a user: a question, a check, a citation.

You will know this lesson by one sentence: A helper gives a skeleton. You write the sentences under the headings. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have got the core. The rest is practice, not magic.

Without this line Helper would be a shop of finished work. With the line you may shorten and plan. The preview is fair: you see you pay for craft, not for a robot into the school portal.

Four things you will build in this course

The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only what this lesson can do.

Workshop: five headings, scissors for meat

One topic you may practise (not a test). An order for a skeleton. Scissors. Three sentences under one heading in your hand.

2. Delete every bit of meat that flowed in. Five labels remain. 复制 them by hand.

3. Under heading 1 write three sentences yourself. No copy. No address.

4. When the model keeps writing, a new move: “headings only, I repeat.”

5. A trail: it helped with order, the sentences are mine. The preview is 完成 when you can say that.

Practice: a skeleton, or bait

Sort. What do you delete?

1. Five labels with no sentences.

2. Five labels and under each a paragraph “for inspiration”.

3. “Edit my composition so it sounds like a reader” after pasting the whole text — how is that not an outline?

Go through three checks. At each one tick in your head: can I see it, or not?

1. You delete meat under headings.
2. Three sentences under one point are yours.
3. You know that permission for an outline ≠ permission for a composition.

If something is missing, go back to the steps above. This is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on sure, not confused.
