Five hands, one look. Otherwise the class reads five shows.
When everyone inserts a different typeface, eyes wander and one sentence what it is about is lost. Agree: one typeface, a title big from the back, body smaller, one light or dark background, one colour accent. Personality belongs in the mouth, not in five fonts. Text from the web brings someone else’s type size eleven. Clear formatting. Write again. The word limit on a slide holds for a team too. Someone else’s font is someone else’s work on the screen. Write the agreement into a comment on the title so everyone sees it. Then unify. Not only in the morning at the board. Thumbnails on the left must not look like a collage of five reports. A teacher marks the whole. The whole has one body to look at too. A parent holds the account. An email does not belong on a slide. Today a comment of the agreement on the title and unifying thumbnails. Not only in the morning at the board, when eyes already wander.
Tereza had Comic, Jonáš Arial, a third a pink rainbow. The class did not know which presentation was running. After a comment on the title everyone 40 and 28, the same background, one accent. Thumbnails calm. Five mouths, one look. A parent from the back read the title. Tereza deleted Comic. Jonáš cleaned pasted text from the web: Edit → Paste without formatting. Thumbnails on the left stopped looking like five reports. Present (F5) showed one body. A parent from the back still read the same title size. The rainbow from the third slide vanished.
Before you write on your slide, read the comment on the title: typeface, sizes, colours. Then you click. Not the other way.
One agreement about eyes
On the title Insert → Comment: typeface, title size, body size, colours. Everyone reads. At pasted text Edit → Paste without formatting, or clear format and set the same typeface. In Slides at the top typeface and size. One theme: Slide → Change theme, or in PowerPoint Design and the same theme on all slides. Walk thumbnails on the left. A different font? Unify. A different rainbow? Unify. Click Present (F5). Does it look like one piece of work? No? A cut of the look, not a new extra slide. A new slide will not fix a hole. Unifying will. Hierarchy from earlier holds: title a sentence, contrast, readable from the back. A team enforces that on all slides, not only on their own. A parent’s account. Personality belongs in the mouth, not in five fonts. A new slide will not fix a hole of the look. Unifying will. A team enforces typeface on all slides, not only on their own. Hierarchy from earlier holds: title a sentence, contrast, readable from the back.
Wrong: five fonts, five moods, no one sentence for the eyes.
Right: the same typeface, the same background, one accent. Thumbnails calm.
You say personality with your voice. The screen should speak one language. A thumbnail test: close your eyes, open, look left. Five worlds, or one piece of work? When five worlds, first typeface and colours, not another extra slide. Thumbnails on the left as one piece of work. Paste without formatting. Personality is in the mouth, not in five fonts. When on the left five worlds, unify before you add a slide. From the back one language of eyes must be readable.
Do not copy from the web with type size 11. Clean. Write. Few words. Someone else’s look on a slide is someone else’s work.
Four things you will build in this course
The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only this:
🎯 A hobby in 5 slides
Five slides about something you like doing. One sentence about what it is. No paragraphs from your notebook.
Hobby: even a funny hobby has the same typeface as the rest of the team.
📚 A report
Eight slides for school: a start, three proofs, an end. The title on every slide is a sentence, not “Slide 3”.
Report: eight slides, one look. A chapter is not an excuse for a rainbow.
📊 Survey results
A chart from a table (not a screenshot from chat) and under it where the numbers come from.
Survey: a chart in the agreed colours, not in a rainbow from a table.
⚖️ A defence
You say one sentence, show proof, answer “and what if…”. If you do not know, you say I don’t know.
Defence: five looks look like you have no one sentence.
A comment of the agreement and unifying thumbnails
First rules on the title. Then everyone their slide. Then a shared look at thumbnails.
-
On the first slide Insert → Comment: typeface, sizes, colours. Everyone reads it out loud. In PowerPoint Review → Comment.
-
Everyone on their slide sets typeface and size by the agreement. Pasted text: paste without formatting. Delete someone else’s font.
-
Walk thumbnails on the left. A different font or rainbow? Unify. In Slides one theme. In PowerPoint Design the same on all slides.
-
Present (F5). From the back: can it be read? One look? No? Esc, a cut of the look, do not add a slide.
-
Saved on Drive of the original. No copy only because of a font. There is no email on a slide. A parent’s or school account.
A collage, or one body
Thumbnails do not lie. When on the left five worlds, the class will see that too.
-
Find one slide with a different typeface and unify it.
-
Delete a rainbow that is not in the agreement on the title.
-
From the back read the title. When it will not go, make it bigger by the agreement, do not stack more words.
Now you 💪
- On the title is a comment with typeface and colours.
- Thumbnails look like one piece of work.
- Someone else’s format from the web is gone.
Done when: All team slides share typeface, sizes and colours from the comment on the title.
What to take from this lesson
- One typeface, two plus one colour accent.
- The agreement hangs on the title.
- Paste without formatting.
- Personality is in the mouth, not in five fonts.
- Unifying, not a new slide as a patch.
- 姓名s in the examples (Tereza, Jonáš) are made up. Do not put your number, email or photo on a slide.
