A profile is a calling card
A safer profile is the project of the whole Broadcaster: what the world sees when they do not know you. Not hiding — a default that makes sense.
A checklist:
- A private account or friends only — not a public megaphone
- Bio without a surname, school, class, address, “I am alone until…”
- Profile picture without a kit with a surname, the school gate, a house number
- Nick without a year of birth and school (
bluedragon>novak2014zs) - Tags — who can tag you? Approve?
The board rule: A photo you would not leave hanging by the headteacher, you do not send. It holds on a profile too. A profile is a board for strangers.
A final edit step by step
-
Open every network and game you use. Profile settings → privacy → Private / Friends only.
-
Bio and nick — fix one thing today. Surname gone. School gone.
-
Profile picture — fine at the board? If not, change it.
-
Write into the safer profile (paper or a note with a parent):
- private account: yes/no on each network
- nick without an ID card: yes/no
- bio without school: yes/no
- date of the final check
Renaming a nick sometimes cannot be done immediately. Then clean the bio and make the profile as private as you can. A new account “just because of a nick” without a parent = another door. Fewer accounts is less work.
What to say at home
To a parent:
“I am doing a final profile check. Can you look at the bio and the profile picture? I want it to be fine at the board.”
Into family rules: A profile private. A bio without school and an address.
A safer profile is not a fake age so you can make a network you are not old enough for. That breaks the network’s rules. If you do not meet the age, you do not have an account — that is a solution too.
Now you 💪
Go through the checklist. Fix one thing today. Write the rest with a date.
Show the profile to a parent for a minute. One bit of feedback is enough.
Check: The safer profile has a checklist. Privacy, nick, bio, profile picture. The check date written down.
What to take from this lesson
- A profile = a calling card. Private default.
- Bio and nick without school, a year, an address.
- The board rule for photos and a profile.
- A checklist with a parent with a date.
