“Free” with postage

Free often means: pay somewhere else

The word free pulls the eyes. Free postage from 499 Kč means: under 499 you pay the journey, over 499 you buy more so you “save”. Sometimes you save. Sometimes you buy things you do not want, for more than the postage was.

A shopper adds: price of the goods + postage − (whether you want it). Not: the sign FREE.

Filip: a toy 120, postage 89, “free from 500”. He adds random things up to 500. He pays 500. He wanted 120. Eliška: 120+89=209, or she waits and buys in a shop for 120. 209 < 500. Filip won the sign. Eliška the balance.

A game “first purchase free” often turns a card on for next time. Free is bait.

Bait zero

Free is a marketing word. A true zero exists (a gift, a parent’s shared ticket). A fake zero hides spending: postage, a second month, data, agreement to an email.

Postage is spending like juice. It belongs in the notebook when it comes from pocket money. When a parent pays a web shop, it is their envelope. You do not order extras up to 499 from their card.

“A discount + free postage + only today” is pressure. Take it apart into numbers. Time can wait. Numbers cannot.

A pickup point and the post have their own rules. A parent chooses. You do not go alone to pick up for a discount when that does not hold at home.

Eliška wants to shorten it to “it will be fine somehow”. Filip asks what the lesson “Free” with postage is for, when a table can do a sum. A sum does not count respect, a PIN, a trap or an envelope. The core is: Add goods and postage. Free from an amount can force waste.
