What to do when something will not work

“Something will not work” is not always an attack

The phone froze. The password does not work. An app writes a weird error. The account kicked you out. That can be an ordinary error. It can also be a scam that looks like an error. You tell the difference by rush and by what they want from you.

When something will not work, you do not click the first link “fix it here”. The method is always the same:

Stop. Put the phone down.
Ask a parent or a teacher. Even if “it is only a game”.
Open the service yourself — an address you know, not a link from a message.

Panic says: click now. Calm says: ten seconds and an adult.

If you clicked by mistake, say so immediately. “Something will not work” and “I clicked something” belong to the same method. Changing a password is boring, not a punishment.

Typical situations

Forgotten password. The “Forgotten password” button on the official page, which you open yourself. Not a link from chat. A parent can be there.

계정 locked. 학교 has an admin — a teacher, IT. Not “support” in a private message.

An app keeps crashing. Restart, update, ask a parent. Do not download a “fix program” from a stranger.

A message: “Your account will be deleted, click.” A trap. No click. Show a parent. Open the service yourself.

What you do not deal with on your own

calling a “bank” from a number in a message
writing to “support” a friend found
typing a password on a page from a link
paying “just to restore the account”

First door: a parent or a teacher. Always.

What to say out loud

“Something will not work with an account / an app. Here is what the screen says. I do not know if I should click. Can you look at it?”

If you clicked:

“I clicked a link. I do not know what happened. I need help.”
