Three doors, in this order
When a weird message arrives, a prize-trap, pressure for a password or nastiness in a group, you do not need a map of the internet. You need three doors. They come one after another. The first are the closest.
- A parent or a teacher — first. Even if “nothing went out”. Even if you clicked. Even if it is awkward. The sooner, the less damage. An adult can change a password, write to school, say stop. You should not carry it on your own.
- The Report button in a game / a network / email — it marks it for others too. It is not snitching. It is tidying. A teacher and a parent can say when to touch the button. You do not have to hunt it in panic as the first thing.
- Linka bezpečí 116 111 — when you are afraid to say it at home, or you need a calm voice. It works at night too. It is for children. You do not have to have a “big enough problem”. It is enough that it is hard to say out loud.
When someone blackmails (“send a photo / money, or I will show it”), go to an adult immediately. You do not deal with the police on your own — a parent or school goes with you. You do not carry the negotiating.
The order is ordinary on purpose. First a person you know. Then a button in the app. Then the line, when the first door is closed or scary.
Before you delete the message, take a screenshot. Date, name, text. Then block. Proof helps a teacher. Deleting does not stop the trap. A block without a picture sometimes leaves only your feeling and nothing to show.
What to say to an adult
You do not need a speech. You do not need the words phishing and scam. A short sentence and a picture are enough.
“A message arrived, it wants a password / money / a photo. Here is the picture. I do not know if I clicked.”
If you clicked, say so. Changing a password is boring, not a punishment. The sentence “I made a mistake, I need help” is brave. Silence is harder.
If you do not know whether you clicked, say that too. An adult will ask calmly. You do not need a perfect story.
To a teacher at school:
“Can I show you a screenshot? I do not want to send it to classmates.”
To a parent in the evening:
“I need you to see this. It is not because I am bad. It is because it rushes and I am not clicking.”
When it is awkward to talk:
Put the phone on the table. Say: “This.” A paper with one sentence is enough too.
When the first door will not work
Sometimes a parent is away. Sometimes you are afraid they will be angry. Sometimes it is about a classmate and you do not want to “snitch”. Then backup holds.
- A second adult: a second parent, grandma, a coach, an after-school club leader, another teacher.
- A trust box at school, if you have one.
- Linka bezpečí 116 111. A quiet number. You can just listen to how they ask. You do not have to know the ending immediately.
The line is not a punishment. It is not “only when it is on fire”. It is a voice when the home voice is far or hard.
Into a parent’s phone (and into yours too, with a parent, if you may) save 116 111 as Linka bezpečí. So it is not a hunt in panic. You do not have to call. You have the number.
Do not start with the police, a bank or “investigating” in chat on your own. First is an adult next to you. When a next step is needed, they go with you. Your job is to come and show a screenshot.
The Report button — tidying, not revenge
In an app there is often a button or three dots and the word Report. It is a message to the network: this message, this profile, this group. It does not solve everything. It helps so others do not see the trap further.
You do it after a screenshot and ideally after a sentence to an adult. If you are on your own and it is nasty now, you may report and immediately look for an adult. The order can be tight. The goal is the same: you are not in it on your own.
Forwarding a trap “for a laugh” to the class is not reporting. It is another round. A screenshot to a teacher yes. A link into a group chat no.
What happens afterwards
You say it. An adult looks at the screenshot. Maybe you will change a password. Maybe a teacher will write. Maybe a block and a report are enough. You can be there, you do not have to click everything. It is not a trial. It is tidying.
If an adult is angry, they are angry at the trap, not at you for coming. If they are angry at you, you still did the right thing by saying it. A second adult and 116 111 stay as backup. You do not have to endure shouting to “have courage”. You should have a door you go through again.
Investigating the sender on your own, clicking for traces, writing back to the trap — that is not what the course wants. Your job ended with a screenshot and a sentence. The rest is an adult.
At school there is sometimes a counsellor, a trust box, a form tutor. If you do not know who that is, ask: “Who should I show a weird message to when you are not available?” That question belongs in the campaign. A classmate should have a name, not only a slogan.
If you reported in a game and nothing seems to happen, you still did the tidying. The button is not magic. It is a trail for the network and for an adult. Your calm does not wait until the trap vanishes from the internet. It waits for the sentence you said.
Campaign: where to go, in big letters
The project 🏫 Campaign for the class has one place on the poster a classmate can find from their desk:
- a teacher’s name / a trust box
- “tell a parent”
- 116 111
No horror. Five points and where to go when something happens. That is enough. When you put a poster together in Adviser, this lesson is the content of the bottom strip.
Into 🏠 family rules: When a trap arrives, a screenshot, then a parent. The number 116 111 is in the phone.
Now you 💪
Save the number. Say the name of the first adult. One sentence “what to say” out loud.
-
Into a parent’s phone save
116 111as Linka bezpečí. If you may, into yours too. A parent knows about it. -
Say out loud: who is your first door. Who is backup.
-
Say the sentence: “A message arrived, here is the picture. I do not know if I clicked.” So it is not the first time at night.
Hunter 完成. You can spot a disguise, a prize-trap and where to go. The next level is privacy — Shadow.
What to take from this lesson
- A parent / a teacher first. Then report in the app.
- 116 111, when it is hard to say out loud.
- A screenshot before deleting. Then block.
- You clicked? Say so. Changing a password is boring, not a punishment.
- You do not deal with the police and a bank on your own — an adult goes with you.
