Checking = a second channel
Safe checking means: when a message, a video or a profile claims something important and urgent, you do not take it only from chat. You check another way — best of all call a parent on a number in contacts, not on a number from the message.
A second channel = something other than that chat:
- a call on a parent’s saved number
- ask a teacher at school
- in person at home: “Mum, did you write to me about money?”
A scammer sits in chat. A parent on the phone — that is a second channel.
A number in a message “call here” is not checking. That can be the scammer. Always a number from contacts, which you have saved with a parent before the scam.
When to call immediately
- an SMS / a video “from a parent” about money or an accident
- “A teacher writes that you should pay something / send a photo”
- a fake friend profile wants a secret
- a prize that rushes
- anyone wants an SMS code
The sentence:
“I do not know if this is true. I am calling a parent on the saved number. Wait.”
A real parent will wait. A scammer will push more.
Agree a family password or sentence for urgent things — not in chat, at the table. For example: “When it is really urgent, I will call, I will not only send a message.” A scammer does not know the password.
Method in five steps
- Stop — I do not click, I do not send money, I do not read a code.
- Screenshot — if it is possible, for a parent.
- Call on a parent’s saved number (or a second adult).
- Describe shortly: “This arrived. What should I do?”
- Only then — a parent decides: block, report, school.
What to say to a parent
“A message / a video arrived that … I did not click. Is it true? I am calling to check.”
That is not distrust. That is the course in practice.
How it fits the projects
🏠 Family rules. I check important things with a call, not only with chat.
📱 Audit. Parent contacts complete and named correctly.
Hunter finale — checking is the core of the whole level.
Now you 💪
With a parent: check saved contacts. Agree an urgent sentence or password. Once call a parent and practise the checking sentence — even if nothing is happening.
-
Parent contacts OK. A number from a message ≠ a contact.
-
An urgent sentence agreed at the table.
-
A practised call: “I am checking whether it was you who wrote.”
Check: Checking = a second channel. I call a saved number. A scammer rushes — you do not.
What to take from this lesson
- Chat is not proof — a call is.
- I do not call a number from a message.
- A family urgent password / sentence.
- Stop → screenshot → call → a parent decides.
