Incognito is not invisibility
Private mode (Incognito, a private window) does not save history on your phone. After closing the window, cookies from that session disappear. That is all. It is not invisibility.
المدرسة still sees what you do on school Wi-Fi, if there is a filter. The internet provider sees that you are on a website. The page sees that you arrived. A parent sitting next to you too.
Private mode is useful when:
- you look at a gift for a sibling and you do not want it hanging in history
- you test whether a website works without cookies (after refusing the bar)
- you borrow someone else’s phone and you do not want to leave a sign-in there
Private mode is not for:
- doing things you would not want a parent to see — they sit next to you or have family rules
- going around a school filter
- “hiding” cyberbullying — that is dealt with another way, with an adult
How to switch it on

Safari (iPhone): the squares icon at the bottom → Private (bottom left). Or three dots → New Private Window.
كروم (Android/iPhone): three dots → New Incognito tab / New Incognito tab.

Open one website. إغلاق the private window. Open the normal browser. History from the private window is not there.

Try the same website in a normal window. The cookie bar may pop up again — a private window does not save it for good.
A window in private mode is often darker or has a hat icon. That is only a hint. Not a magic shield.
If someone says “in incognito nobody can see you”, that is a half-truth. History is not saved with you. A screenshot, a camera, a school network and the page itself still exist. Use it as a مرة واحدة visit, not as a mask.
What to say at home
To a parent:
“I know incognito is not invisibility. I want to try it on one website so I see the difference. Can you look?”
To a sibling:
“When you lend me a phone, I will open a private window so my history does not stay there. It is not for silliness. It is politeness.”
Into family rules a sentence can go: Incognito is not hiding from family. It is a مرة واحدة visit without history.
Private mode is not a how-to for going around parental controls or a school filter. If the rules say “phone away at 21:00”, incognito does not change that. Rules hold in a dark window too.
When private mode helps Shadow
After refusing cookies on a website you can check in a private window whether the page works even without advertising cookies. That is an audit, not secrecy.
Into the phone audit write: I know what private mode is — yes/no. I tried it once — yes/no.
Now you 💪
Open a private window. Visit one website (not a school test). إغلاق the window. Check that history in the normal browser does not contain that page.
Explain to a parent or a sibling in one sentence what incognito is not. Awkward is fine. The sentence has to be تم.
Check: You can switch on private mode in Safari or كروم. You know it does not save history with you, not that nobody can see you.
