Safe Wi-Fi at home

The router password, a guest network, firmware. A home fortress.

Home Wi-Fi is not a public café

Home Wi-Fi only family knows. The router password does not belong on the fridge for the whole house or into chat with friends. A guest network — for a visit, not for permanent sharing with half the street.

A router (the box from the operator) has:

You as a child do not change the router blind. With a parent you know: we do not send the Wi-Fi password. Guest for a visit.

💡

If a friend asks for the Wi-Fi password “forever”, a parent decides. A guest network for an afternoon is politeness. The main network password into chat no.

What to check with a parent

  1. A parent: Is the Wi-Fi password strong? Do we have a guest network?

  2. You: I know I do not send the Wi-Fi password into chat. One sentence into family rules.

  3. Into the phone audit (home part): Wi-Fi at home — we do not share the password in chat. Guest network — yes/no.

On public Wi-Fi we were careful. At home the network is yours — but you still do not send the password to ten people.

What to say at home

To a parent:

“In the course we dealt with Wi-Fi at home. I want to know if we have a guest network and that I do not send the password to friends in chat.”

To a visitor:

“We have guest Wi-Fi on a note by the door. We do not send the main password.”

⚠️

Router settings in a browser (192.168…) a parent changes. It is not practice for a child without watching — you click wrong and the internet drops for the whole family.

Now you 💪

Ask a parent about a guest network and the password rule. Write one sentence into family rules.

If you once sent a Wi-Fi password into chat — with a parent consider changing the password. Learning, not shame.

Check: You know a Wi-Fi password is not for chat. Guest network — you know yes/no. Family rules have a sentence.
