Screenshots and forwarding

A screenshot is not proof for revenge. It is for an adult.

A screenshot has rules

A screenshot = a photo of the screen. It saves a message, a chat, a profile, an insult. In cyberbullying it is the first step — proof for a teacher or a parent. Not the first step for revenge or a meme into another group.

Forwarding a screenshot on = another megaphone. What wanted to vanish with one person is now with ten.

The Broadcaster rule:

  1. A screenshot for an adult — yes. Save, show, do not argue.
  2. A screenshot for a group of friends — no, unless it is agreed with a teacher as proof.
  3. A screenshot “for a laugh” — no. That is spreading, not protection.
💡

If someone sends you a screenshot of someone else’s private chat “look what they wrote”, do not send it on. Say: that is not yours. Delete it. If it is bullying, go to an adult with what you have — not with more forwarding.

How to take a useful screenshot

  1. Catch the whole message — account name, text, date if it is possible. On iPhone: buttons + volume. Android: volume + power buttons (depends on the model).

  2. Save into an album or a folder “for a parent” — not into a group chat. A parent or a teacher decides what next.

  3. Do not send a screenshot of an insult into another group “so they see what they are like”. That feeds the fire.

A screenshot of a voice note, a deleted story or a group they kicked you from — save before it vanishes. Then block or leave the group. The order from cyberbullying: screenshot, do not argue, an adult.

What to say at home

To a parent:

“When something bad, I will take a screenshot for you or a teacher. I will not send it into the party. Do you know where you will find it with me?”

To a classmate who forwards:

“Do not send this on. If it is bullying, you go to a teacher. Not into a meme.”

⚠️

A screenshot of someone else’s private chat without permission and spreading it can be a problem too. You are not a detective. If you see something bad, save it for yourself, go to an adult. Do not add fuel.

Now you 💪

Practise a screenshot on a neutral page (phone settings). So you know how it works when there is a rush.

With a parent, agree: where I save a screenshot for an adult — an album, a folder, show it straight away.

Check: You can take a screenshot. You know it is for an adult, not for revenge. Forwarding bullying = no.
