A trip budget

A ceiling, lines, a reserve. A wish is not a plan. A free preview.

A budget is a ceiling, not a wish

A trip budget is a ceiling in Kč and a list of what may come from it. It is not “it will be great”. It is not SUM in a table as a mark. It is a decision of the class and of adults, how many tokens may vanish before the trip starts to hurt.

This lesson is a preview of a paid level. The card and the account are still a parent’s. You learn paper.

Adam: entry 150, a souvenir 200, food “somehow”. Ema: entry 150, food 80, a reserve 40, a souvenir 0 or from pocket money. A till ceiling 270 per head, which a teacher said. Adam 350. The till cannot carry it. Ema can.

Adam shouts that Ema spoils the fun. Ema holds the ceiling. That is Planner. Fun with no ceiling is a debt on a parent or on a friend.

💡

First a ceiling (a teacher / a parent). Then lines. Then a cross-out. Crossing out a wish is work. It is not a betrayal of the trip.

A ceiling, lines, a cross-out

A budget has a boss. On a school trip a teacher and parents. On your pocket money for a souvenir you and an envelope. Do not mix the class till and your pocket with no rule.

Lines: travel, entry, food, a reserve, a want. A reserve is not waste. It is for a delay, a machine, a lost ticket. With no reserve the first problem is the end of the plan.

A table may add up. The mark is that the sum ≤ the ceiling. If > the ceiling, do not change the ceiling in your head. Cross out a want. Must (travel, entry, food) has priority.

Till numbers do not belong on the network. Not even “our trip costs…” with exact amounts into stories. A trip poster may say a goal, not accounts.

Ema wants to shorten it to “it will be fine somehow”. Adam asks what the lesson A trip budget is for, when a table can do a sum. A sum does not count respect, a PIN, a trap or an envelope. The core is: A budget = a ceiling + lines + a cross-out. A wish that overflows falls.

Adults pay the rent. The card, the account and the PIN belong to a parent. A child’s email does not belong here. Pocket-money numbers do not belong on the network. If you break these rules in the lesson “A trip budget”, you know a word, not the course.

A ceiling 270. Entry 150, food 80, a reserve 40 = 270. A souvenir from pocket money or nothing. Adam a souvenir 200 into the till. 470. It does not pass. A cross-out.

For practice: a ceiling 200, lines 80+80+80=240. Cross out 40 from a want, not from a ticket.

Practice numbers, not a bank statement. Ema has 80 Kč in the want envelope. Adam pushes a step this lesson can name. When Ema uses the core, either it waits for a parent, or it fits the envelope. If not, anger and a hole are left — proof of pressure, not that the lesson is pointless.

⚠️

Do not gather the till in secret onto a child’s account. Do not collect IČO. An adult holds trip money. You hold a list.

Why this right now

You are in the course Money with Martin, level Planner. You can write numbers in a notebook or a table, but the topic is money and decisions, not Excel formulas. The account, the card and the PIN belong to a parent. A child’s email does not belong here. Do not put pocket-money numbers on the network.

This is not the Sheets with Martin course. A table may help, but the mark of success is a decision, not SUM.

You will know this lesson by one sentence: A budget = a ceiling + lines + a cross-out. A wish that overflows falls. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have the core. The rest is practice, not magic.

The whole of Planner is a trip in time. With no ceiling envelopes are only words. With it you can do a reserve, a till, a plan B.

If you skip this, the next lesson in level Planner will stand on fog. A practice budget ≤ 270. You can cross out. You do not collect money. It is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so “A trip budget” is not only a heading.

Four things you will build from the course

The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only what this lesson can do.

🪙 Pocket money

A 14-day record: income, spending, balance. What you do not write down is as if you did not spend it — and that is a lie.

Pocket money: a mini budget of the week is the envelope ceiling.

🚌 Class trip

A budget, a reserve, a plan B. A shared till has rules.

This IS the seed of the class-trip project.

🎮 Game shop

V-bucks and a loot box are a purchase. A subscription keeps going.

A game: a pass on a trip on the bus reaches into your envelope, not into the till, if the rule forbids it.

🧾 Stall / mini-company

Cost, price, profit. Three numbers for the class.

A stall: a budget for buying supplies. The same ceiling.

Workshop: a ceiling 270 on paper

A practice trip. Practice numbers. No collecting money today.

  1. A ceiling 270. Split entry, food, a reserve. The sum ≤ 270.

  2. A souvenir: the till, or pocket money, or nothing. Write a rule.

  3. A cross-out if entry were 200. What falls?

  4. A sentence: “I do not change the ceiling in my head.”

You count when the sum holds and a want can fall. A table with no cross-out is a wish. A wish is not a Planner preview.

Pocket money: Pocket money: a mini budget of the week is the envelope ceiling. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

Class trip: This IS the seed of the class-trip project. Do not write someone else’s amount, a PIN, an IBAN or “how much a classmate gets” next to it. A rule and a practice number are enough — or an honest zero.

Practice: overflow, or hold?

A ceiling 270. What do you do?

  1. 150+80+40. Does it hold? Where a souvenir 200?

  2. A sum 310. Do you change the ceiling, or cross out?

  3. Why do till numbers not belong on stories?

  4. Why is the till not on your account?

Now you 💪

Go through three checks. By each one, tick in your head: do I see it, or not?

  1. A ceiling is the first number, not the last.
  2. A reserve is a line, not what is left after a want.
  3. An adult holds the till.

If something is missing, go back to the steps above. It is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on with certainty, not with a mess.

Check: A practice budget ≤ 270. You can cross out. You do not collect money.
