Save and share with the teacher (view)

The teacher gets a link with Viewer permission. Not anyone with the link as Editor.

Share Viewer. Editor is a trap.

Save in Slides mostly runs on its own on Drive. Share is a decision.

The teacher needs a link to see the work. They do not need anyone with the link writing memes into the file.

So Viewer permission. In English often “Viewer”. Editor only when the teacher clearly wants to edit in your file.

General setting: Restricted. Not “Anyone on the internet”.

The link does not belong on a public board. It belongs in the school system, a parent’s email to the teacher, or the dropbox.

Example: Adam set Anyone with the link can edit. A classmate rewrote the sentence as a joke. Ema set Restricted and Viewer. The work stayed.

Today with an adult you click Share in the top right. Role Viewer. Not Editor. You check the link in another window before you put it in the dropbox. On a school PC you sign out after handing in. You do not leave the password in someone else’s classroom.

Adam set Anyone with the link can edit, so the “teacher can open it easily”. A classmate got into the file and rewrote the sentence as a joke. The teacher saw the joke.

Ema set Restricted, added the teacher’s email as Viewer. The classmate did not have the link. The work stayed.

Adam learned that convenience is a hole. Ema learned two extra clicks. Two clicks are cheaper than an apology. Today you do Ema’s path. A parent is there, because the dialog has adults’ email.

💡

Before you send, open the link in a private window or in another parent account. Do you see what the teacher will see? If nothing, sharing is wrong.

Restricted and Viewer

The Share button is top right in Slides.

General setting: Restricted — only people you add. Not Anyone with the link, unless the school clearly wants that.

Role: Viewer can see, does not wipe. Commenter writes notes. Editor changes slides. For handing in, Viewer is enough.

نسخ the link and paste it where the teacher said: school portal, Classroom, a parent’s email. Not on Instagram. Not in a bio.

If Drive says saving is waiting, wait for the tick. Sharing a half-saved network dropout is pointless stress.

On a school PC sign out after handing in. Do not leave the password in the browser of someone else’s classroom. Sharing is a door. The lock is Restricted plus Viewer.

Ema: Share → Restricted → teacher’s email, role Viewer, إرسال. She pastes the link into Classroom.

Adam: Anyone, Editor, the link in a group chat. Result: a meme on the title. The teacher does not know whose idea it was.

Ema has a trail: only the teacher read it. That is the school standard. It is not distrust of friends. It is version order.

When you are a team, Editor goes by name to a pair, not to the whole internet. Today you are alone. Alone means Viewer for the teacher.

⚠️

Do not share the account. Do not share the password so the teacher can “open Drive”. The teacher has a link. The account stays with an adult. The link is enough.

Four things you will build in this course

The course has four small projects. You do not have to do them all at once. Today you add only this:

🎯 A hobby in 5 slides

Five slides about something you like doing. One sentence about what it is. No paragraphs from your notebook.

Hobby: a parent sees Viewer before you let it into school.

📚 A report

Eight slides for school: a start, three proofs, an end. The title on every slide is a sentence, not “Slide 3”.

Report: the dropbox, not a link in the class group chat.

📊 Survey results

A chart from a table (not a screenshot from chat) and under it where the numbers come from.

Survey: table and slides shared equally carefully.

⚖️ A defence

You say one sentence, show proof, answer “and what if…”. If you do not know, you say I don’t know.

Defence: the panel gets the link in time. Editor not to random people.

Two doors: Restricted and Viewer

With an adult you set sharing the way handing in should look. The goal is a link the teacher opens and does not overwrite.

  1. Check it is not Untitled at the top and that Drive finished saving. Click Share in the top right. If there is no button, the file is only on the PC disk — first save it to Drive with a parent. In PowerPoint almost the same: Share on OneDrive.

  2. In General access set Restricted, not Anyone with the link. Today we practise Restricted. That is the default lock.

  3. Add a person: a parent types the email, or you copy it from the teacher’s instruction on paper, not from friends’ chat. Role Viewer. Not Editor. A short note: presentation to hand in, your name.

  4. إرسال, or نسخ link only if the teacher wants a link into Classroom. Do not paste the link onto a public network. Open the link in another window and check it can be read and slides cannot be deleted.

  5. إغلاق the dialog. On a school PC sign out when you leave. Show a parent who can see the file. If there is anyone extra, remove them.

A dummy lock

Practise what would go wrong if you clicked convenient Anyone.

  1. Tell a parent the difference between Editor and Viewer in one sentence.

  2. Write where the link may go (the school system) and where it may not (a public profile).

  3. Check the list of people in Share. Only those who should see the work.

Now you 💪

  1. Access is Restricted, not anyone with the link as the default.
  2. The teacher or a practice adult has Viewer, not a pointless Editor.
  3. The link is not in a public chat or on a slide as a big QR for the whole internet.

Done when: The file is saved and shared as Viewer in Restricted mode.
