Tools: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude — the same game

A different sticker, the same rules

Someone swears by one brand as if it were a football club. At school that tempts an argument about who has “better AI”. In this course it is not a league. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude are chatbots: a box, a prompt, an answer, a hallucination, the same need to check. They can sound different. They can refuse differently. They can draw pictures differently. The basic game is the same. That is why you do not learn to drive one company. You learn a craft you can carry. When school opens a different tool, you are not lost. You ask the same way. You check the same way. You do not cite a brand as a source. Code does not belong here. Building your own bot is the Inventor course. Here you are a user.

Ema has Gemini at home, Bára ChatGPT. They do the same prompt about the water cycle. The answers differ in the comparison. Ema shouts that hers is cleverer. Bára that hers is nicer. The teacher in the club says: “Open the textbook on the page about evaporation. Which sentence sits?” Both have to cross things out. Both have an extra bit that is not in the book. They laugh. The sticker did not win. Checking won. They write home: the same game. When one brand does not work, the other is not a sin. Rules about the account, data and citations apply to all.

Before you say “this one is rubbish”, try the same prompt. Often you are arguing about chance, not about truth.

What changes and what must not change

It changes: the look of the window, the free limit, whether it can do a picture, how strictly it refuses a bad request, what tone it has. It does not change: that it stacks words, that it hallucinates, that it is not a citation, that you want the year in the prompt, that a parent holds the account, that a test under the desk is a foul. When one tool refuses, try wording it differently — do not dodge a ban on personal data with another brand. That is the same foul in a different shirt. A school tool can be a fourth brand. Still the same game. When you are in Detective comparing two chatbots, you will compare facts, not fans.

A try you may: the same strong prompt in two windows (with a parent). Write down how the comparison differs. Then open a textbook. Which sentence survives? That is the referee, not the logo.

A try you must not: create a third account on your mail, “because this brand is better”.

Do not download a weird “free AI” from an advert just so you have a fourth brand. Account and safety > collecting logos.

Why this right now

You are in the course Ask with Martin, level Prep. You work in a chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude) — same game, different brand. No code. A parent or the school creates the account. A child’s email does not belong here.

This is not the Inventor level. There you build a chatbot on your own website. Here you are a user: a question, a check, a citation.

You will know this lesson by one sentence: Three brands, the same game: you ask, you check, you cite a book. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have got the core. The rest is practice, not magic.

Without this lesson you would tie the whole course to one company. Companies change. The craft stays. Prep ends practically: you can swap the tool, not the rules.

An outline, three sources that exist, and a sentence in your own words. AI must not be the only author.

A report must not cite “Gemini 2024” as a source. Or any other brand.

Coach role: let it ask, do not let it say the answer. You count / answer yourself.

Coach is a role in the prompt. It works in all three when you write it.

Tasks for the week (not passwords, not marks). A parent sees the plan, not your chat.

Planner: the same list, whichever brand writes it — a parent still sees it as text.

Code: “We do not argue about a club. We argue about a source.”

Workshop: one prompt, two windows — or one honest one

If you only have one brand at home, that is enough. If two, you compare tone, not fandom. The referee is the textbook.

Build a strong prompt on paper: year, a topic from the textbook, “one comparison, not a definition, no finished homework”. Nothing personal.
Send it in the chatbot you have. Save the answer shortened in the notebook (three lines, not a copy of the whole paragraph).
If you have a second brand on a parent’s account, the same. If not, the second try is: the same prompt, but add “as an analogy with a kitchen”. That is a change of prompt, not of brand.
Open a textbook. Cross out in the notebook what is not in the book. Leave what sits. The logo did not win.
Out loud to a parent: “The same game.” If they ask which is better, answer: “The one where I check the fact.”

Practice: a fan, or a craftsperson

Fix three sentences so the club disappears and the craft stays.

“ChatGPT is the truth, Gemini is rubbish.” Fix.
“At school I will write it into another bot, the teacher will not notice.” Fix with the pitch in mind.
“I will download a free AI from an advert, it is the same.” Why not.

Go through three checks. At each one tick in your head: can I see it, or not?

You can say what changes with brands and what does not.
You do not cite a logo as a source.
You do not swap a brand so you can dodge a ban on data or a test.

If something is missing, go back to the steps above. This is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on sure, not confused.
