A group does not sleep
In a group chat more people write at once. Messages come at night too. Someone writes “who is online?”, someone sends a meme, someone starts a fight. Pressure to answer now is normal — but you do not have to.
A class group is not a private room. A party in a game with stranger nicks is not family. If something does not sit well, you can:
- ignore — you do not have to answer every message
- mute notifications — the group will not beep all night
- leave a group that is not school and hurts you — after a screenshot for an adult, if it is bullying
- tell a parent or a teacher when chat hurts
Muting a group is not “an injustice”. It is sleep and calm. A class group can be muted at night — you will read important things from a teacher in the morning.
Pressure to answer now
“Why don’t you answer?” “You are online, so write.” “Everyone is waiting.” That is pressure. The answer:
“I cannot now. I will write later.”
Or not at all — if you have nothing to say. Tiredness is not consent to a riddle at three in the morning.

Open class chat or a party. Mute notifications for the night (Chat settings → Mute / Turn off notifications).

Check who is in the group. Strangers without a teacher? Tell a parent.

Practise the sentence: I cannot now. I will write later. Out loud. Awkward is fine.
What to say at home
To a parent:
“The class group sometimes beeps at night. I want to mute notifications. I will read important things from a teacher in the morning.”
To a classmate who pushes:
“I cannot now. It does not mean I am angry. I am just sleeping / doing homework.”
Into family rules: The phone away at night or groups muted. I do not have to answer now.
Leave a group with cyberbullying only after a screenshot for an adult, not earlier — so proof does not vanish. Leaving a school group without a teacher can be a problem — ask.
