Two workbooks, one truth
Sometimes the survey lives in a separate workbook (a form), grades in another. コピーing numbers = two truths again. IMPORTRANGE in Google Sheets pulls a cell from another workbook:
=IMPORTRANGE("workbook_url";"Znamky!B8")Excel on the desktop: Data → Get data or open both workbooks and =[Workbook2.xlsx]Znamky!B8. Today mainly Sheets — that is where kids use it most.
IMPORTRANGE step by step

Open the workbook with
Znamky. From the URL copy the ID between/d/and/edit. Or the whole URL in quotes. -
In the main workbook (Dashboard) cell C3 already has
=Znamky!B8— when everything is in one workbook, you do not need IMPORTRANGE. For practice: a new sheetImport-test, C1:=IMPORTRANGE("https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/YOUR_ID/edit";"Znamky!B8") -
First run: #REF! and the message Allow access. Click Allow. The average number pops in.

Change a grade in the source workbook. Import-test C1 updates after a while.

A survey in a stranger’s workbook: import the summary
Pruzkum!D1:E5— a whole block at once. Dashboard C5/D5 from the import, not by hand.
IMPORTRANGE needs the view right on the source workbook. The teacher must have access to both, or import into a workbook you share. Without permission = #REF!.
Excel between workbooks
Two files open: =[other.xlsx]Sheet1!A1. When you rename the other file, the link breaks. IMPORTRANGE/an external link = fragile — that is why one workbook with sheets is simpler, until the project forces a split.
What often goes wrong
A wrong ID in the URL. A typo = #REF!.
Import of the whole column A:A. Slow. Import range D1:E5.
Sensitive data. Pocket money in a stranger’s workbook import only the total, not the whole column of days.

When grades are in a parent’s private workbook, the school dashboard imports only B8 — not the whole table.
💰 Pocket money — privacy
=IMPORTRANGE(...;"Kapesne!C10") only the total. Not C2:C8 detail.

Form → its own workbook → IMPORTRANGE of summary D:E into the main dashboard workbook.
🏆 Mini dashboard — one workbook
When everything is in one workbook, =Znamky!B8 is enough. IMPORTRANGE only at a split.

Second: write on Poznamky: when you will use IMPORTRANGE vs. a sheet in the same workbook.
Check: Import works after allowing. A change at the source shows up. You do not haul whole columns for nothing.
