A picture can lie faster than a paragraph
A model can draw a battle, an animal, a chart, a “photo” of a scientist. It looks like proof. It is not. It is a stack according to a brief, the same as a sentence. It can show an animal with five legs, a chart with wrong numbers, a historical scene with things that were not there then. A detective asks: is it an illustration for understanding, or proof? An illustration may, when you say it is from AI, and you do not use it as a photograph from an event. Proof must be a map from an atlas, a photo from a textbook, a chart you calculated from data. A school that wants “your own photo” does not want a picture from a model. A school that wants poster decoration maybe yes — with a caption. With no caption it is a costume again.
Adam puts into a presentation “a photo of Charles IV from AI”. Ema reads the caption: none. The teacher asks where the photo is from. Adam: “from chat.” The class laughs, the teacher does not. Explanation: that is not a photo from the 14th century. There was no camera then. It is a model drawing. Adam adds a caption “an AI illustration, not a period snapshot” and rather takes a picture from a textbook. A chart the model drew from invented numbers they cross out. They redraw numbers from a table in a book. The eye wanted proof. A detective gave an honest illustration or nothing.
A caption under a picture is a duty. With no caption the eye takes the image as proof. A caption says costume.

A sign: “generated, not a photo, not a chart from measurement.” Proof: a data source, an atlas, a textbook, your measurement. Deepfakes and fake profiles belong more in the safety course. Here a school rule is enough: do not let an image testify at the board. Do not let it testify in a report that “that is how it looked”. It can help understand the shape of a peninsula when you compare it with an atlas. When it contradicts the atlas, the image falls like an analogy that contradicts a book. Licence and a credit are Maker. Today only truth of the eyes. Eyes lie when you do not tell them they are looking at a stack.

Do not stack a classmate’s or a teacher’s face. That is not an illustration of schoolwork. That is someone else’s face. Stop.
Why this right now
You are in the course Ask with Martin, level Detective. You work in a chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude) — same game, different brand. No code. A parent or the school creates the account. A child’s email does not belong here.

You will know this lesson by one sentence: An AI image is an illustration, not proof — and only with a caption. When you can say it to a parent or a teacher, you have got the core. The rest is practice, not magic.
A fake citation was text theatre. This is picture theatre. Tomorrow “according to a study” — another costume. Detective collects costumes so you notice them all.

If you can generate a picture, you make one about schoolwork and write a caption. If not, you take a picture from a textbook and write why THAT one is more proof. No classmates’ faces.

Pick a shape from an atlas (a river, an island). Either an AI illustration, or skip to a textbook. Compare.

Write a sample caption. Do not leave a picture in a document with no caption.

Try in your head: would it testify at the board as a photo? No. Say it out loud.

- You can write a caption.
- You do not take an image with no sign as a photo from the place.
- You do not generate someone else’s face.
If something is missing, go back to the steps above. This is not a test for marks. It is a safety net, so you go on sure, not confused.
Check: You know the eye wants proof and you give it a sign or an atlas.
