Google/Apple account settings

The phone account watches photos, backups, family. Go through it with a parent.

A phone account is a key to everything

A Google account (Android) or Apple ID (iPhone) connects the phone to the cloud, the app store, photo backups and family sharing. Whoever has access to the account has access to photos, contacts and purchases.

That is why the account does not belong in a friend’s hands. The password to it is not lent. A second gate (2FA) belongs here — you already know that from Guard.

Now we go through account settings: what is public, what is private, what to check with a parent.

What to check

Personal details — name, email, phone. What is visible to others?

Security — a strong password? 2FA on? Known devices?

Riêng tư — what does Google/Apple collect? Ads, location history, activity?

Family — Family Link / Family Sharing. Who is the admin?

💡

A parent watches the phone account. You click, a parent watches. You do not read the email password to a sibling across the kitchen. If you do not know something, ask. It is not weakness.

Method with a parent

  1. Google: Settings → Google → Manage your Google Tài khoản. Browser: myaccount.google.com → Security, Riêng tư.

Apple: Settings → [your name]. Sign-In & Security, Riêng tư, My Apple ID.

  2. Check Security: 2FA yes/no. Known devices — are only your phones there?

  3. Check Riêng tư: location history, ads, activity. What to switch off, what to leave — a parent decides. You write it down.

  4. Into the phone audit: Google/Apple account — 2FA yes, we went through it with a parent — date.

Trường Google Workspace (school mail) is run by school. The home Google account you run. Do not touch the school one without a teacher.

What to say at home

To a parent:

“I want to go through my Google/Apple account settings. Twenty minutes. We will check 2FA and privacy. We will not change anything blind.”

Into family rules: A phone account is not lent. We do not read a password and a code to anyone.

⚠️

If someone calls “we are Google, we need the account password”, it is a scam. Google does not want that. Do not read a code from the phone into the handset. Not even to “support”.

What does not belong here

We do not look into someone else’s account. We do not change a parent’s password without an agreement. We do not go around family rules “because I am older”.

Now you 💪

With a parent, open account settings. Check 2FA and one privacy item. Write it into the phone audit.

Practise the sentence: a password and a code are not lent. So a sibling hears it too.

Check: You know where Google/Apple account settings are. 2FA checked. The audit has a line about the account.
