Paper is different from the screen
Printing a dashboard on A4: the chart must not be cut off, KPIs must be bigger than in a table export, colour print sometimes falls to grey — a print preview is required. Presenting data = the same truth as on the display, just a different mask.
Printing the dashboard
-
Sheet Dashboard. File → Print. Preview — do you see KPI + chart?
-
Landscape. Margins Narrow, so the chart fits.
-
Scale: Fit to 1 page — only when the text stays readable. If KPIs vanish, 90% instead of “fit”.
-
Header/footer: optionally top right a name (Sheets: Print settings). At the bottom the print date — so the teacher knows when the snapshot was made.
-
Print area A1:F14. PDF
dashboard-name.pdf. Open — compare with the screen.
Into a report put a PDF page of the dashboard or a PNG export of the whole dashboard (Sheets: File → Download → PDF). One page = one story.
Presentation vs. raw data
| For the teacher | For you |
|---|---|
| Dashboard PDF | The whole workbook |
| Chart PNG | Sheet Znamky with a formula |
| Survey sentence | Column A of raw answers |
A presentation is not enough as the only truth — it is a snapshot. The workbook stays the source.
What often goes wrong
Chart cut off on the right. Orientation / shrink the chart / move left.
Black-and-white print without labels. Turn on print background for chart colours — or data labels already on the chart.
Ten empty pages. Print area.
🏫 Grade average — KPI in print
C3 must be on the first page bigger than edge text. Bold label B3.
💰 Pocket money — total in print
C4 Kč format visible in the PDF. Not scientific notation.
📊 Class survey — sentence A10
The sentence in the print area under the chart. The same numbers as on the screen.
🏆 Mini dashboard — final print
One A4 page = the whole project for the class noticeboard. Show off — but the data must fit.
Now you 💪
First: dashboard PDF, one page, chart whole.
Second: print or send to a parent — will they understand without a computer?
Check: PDF = screen (same numbers). Chart whole. Tên in the file name.
What to take from this lesson
- Print preview of the dashboard always before sending.
- Landscape, narrow margins, print area.
- Dashboard PDF = presentation, workbook = truth.
